A Pleasant Experience with The Credit Collection Agency

by Beatrice
(Memphis)

I pay my loans on time always, and had no problems in paying them as I always save for up for them. This was the case until last year, when I got laid off and lost my job.

I was really scared to lose my car since I have been paying it for four years and I only need one last year to be able to pay off the balance . My collecting agency started to call me after two months on missing out on the payment.

I was really scared and made up phony excuses such as I am busy or I do not live in my current address anymore. The agency would call me twice a day. I will get real scared and pressured even more because they were quite insistent. It was after 2 weeks, that I summoned some courage and talked with them.

I told them of my case, that I have been an on time payer up until recently. The person was very understanding in spite of the fact that I had been avoiding her. She first asked what my current assets and liabilities were. I was hesitant, but she sounded very understanding and not the least bit irritated thus I was open to her and told her honestly regarding my financial status.

After around three to five phone calls, the matter was settled. They will give me another month to look for a job. This made me avoid payment for three months. They then told me that I could pay half the amount which lengthens the time I have to pay but it allowed me to pay monthly.

The monthly payment did not have an interest on it provided I won’t miss anymore. I was very relieved. Looking back, I think the agency should have left an email or a more detailed voice message that they are willing to help and that they are sincere.

The agony of the chase was traumatic. My collector was very good in establishing the fact that they are sincere in helping because they are willing to cut added surcharge for missed payments. In the future, I’d like to see more compassionate agencies which can be shown by frequent e-mails or pleasant voice mails. These are just add-ons, as I would really appreciate agencies which are flexible, willing to cut interest rates, and won’t rush me to pay.
