Change The Assumptions of Your Collectors...

My present business does not use collection services as it is a non-profit so we offer extended payment plans, etc.
I personally am glad for this as I have dealt with collection agencies as a consumer of services, as I have been unemployed... I am now only working part-time so sometimes it still get these, only not as regularly.
I must admit that I really hated in the past, prior to a bankruptcy, getting calls from collectors who threatened court action and who were brutal in their approach. When a person has got only enough to pay rent, gas, food, and has nothing else, then it is really wearing, depressing, and humiliating to get those calls.
If I could tell the collectors anything, it would be to make them treat their consumers better.
It should be assumed that most of those who are getting the calls want to be able to pay, but cannot.
Refrain at all times from assuming that they are just deadbeats who tried to get services without paying for them as that is, in the majority of cases, an untrue assumption.
If your collections people are kind, and if those who you are collecting from come into some money through getting jobs or sudden windfalls, then and only then will your clients get their monies. Cruelty or unkindness on the part of the collectors will not get you or your clients anything
