Collection Agencies:
Legal vs. Moral Tactics of Collectors

The steps and laws allowing debt collectors to take over to get their money are in my opinion right. However, the problem seems less to do with the laws than it does with sneaky collectors always skirting around the laws.
An example is that debt collectors use to not be able to bother you at your place of employment. Now they can call your employment, but if you tell them not to again then they no longer can.
This is a big invasion of privacy as you may not want your fellow co-workers knowing your personal business.
Another tactic to getting you to pay, and as long as they don’t yell or swear it can be done; is to lightly belittle you. An example is: Mary don’t you want to set a good example for your children and by you not paying us your are showing your children that its OK to steal.
Belittling is a tactic that often works but shouldn’t be allowed, in fact anything that may infringe on a persons private character should not be allowed as it is an assumption being made on the part of the collector and not actual fact.
