Collection Agencies Only Want To Help Themselves

Personally I dislike collection agencies a great deal. They show no sympathy and only seem to care about themselves, not the people they deal with.
I have a large amount of credit card debt and sadly this debt was turned over to a collection agency. I've always had trouble paying my bills; I work a 12AM-8AM shift at Wal-Mart because I was not fortunate in my early years and did not have the opportunity to get a good education. Therefore I do not have a lot of money. I only make $10 an hour.
I tried time and time again to explain to debt collection agencies that I do not have the money to pay what they are asking every month. Heck, being a single mom, I do not even have the money for basic living expenses half the time!
Now, do not get me wrong - I try to make an effort to pay. I have offered them $25 per month on my balance. They will not accept that. They tell me that with the amount of debt I have that I must pay AT LEAST $200 per month. That is ridiculous! I barely make $1000 per month!! I have pleaded and begged but yet the agency doesn't listen.
In fact, they have told me I now must show up in court in two weeks. Even though I have written I would pay $25 per month - every month!
So, the point of this is I don't know what I can do. Debt collection agencies have ruined my life.
