Collection Agency Drama

by Carey Young
(Arkansas)

It seems that collection agencies don't have the understanding that they need to have. I hate it when they repeatedly call at odd hours of the night, especially on weekends when people are trying to relax. It seems like they always manage to call around holidays too, when money is tight and people are spending time with their family.

When you do talk to them they do not have any empathy towards the situation. It seems like they never want to come to a solution. Most people want to repay their debts, it just seems impossible when there is lack of communication. Sometimes it seems like they read from a script.

Also, collection agencies never have the right information to identify which company they are collecting for. They say they will call you back, however it may be in six months! Sometimes it may be another person than the first person that called and you have to tell them the same story over and over again. They may have even changed the collection agency's name. This really makes it difficult to know how the debt was obtained.

Also they can be really rude, which can make this mentally tiring. It can really stress anyone out. Being rude will make anyone not want to resolve the debt. Most people will not even pick up the phone. Who would if the other person is yelling at you?

I hope this summary will help you in any way. Communication is the key when settling debt.

Everyone gets into trouble with money at sometime in their life. Being understanding can help as well. Everyone must work together.
