This is a very eye opening article. It is scary to think they would come after you in such an illegal and underhanded way. It is disgraceful that companies would seek to manipulate the legal system. I believe it is right that these companies are being prosecuted and sued.
To utilize these laws in such a way is truly wrong. I cannot believe that there would be such a loophole to allow that to happen. It makes me concerned that I could be the victim of this type of scam and how would I make sure that this did not happen.
I would think that we should all think about contacting our state representatives to ensure that this type of practice is outlawed. Perhaps there should be some required method for “serving” people that would require that they contact the person directly.
Or that they are required to utilize private delivery companies or US mail so they could not manipulate who they said signed for the documents. It would be so simple to simply require these types of checks and balances and then they could not manipulate they system.
I find it very doubtful that one of these companies could manipulate a large corporation like FED-EX, UPS or the US Postal Service. These types of illegal activities further undermine confidence in banks and credit card companies that are already facing challenges.
They should be leading the fight to end these types of practices and should not sell their assets to companies and instead should seek to mediate some solutions from the credit holders that would benefit the company and the consumer.
