Credit Card Fee Charged
for NOT Using the Card!

by Corey

After reading this story:

I am concerned about the fees that may be imposed on a credit card user. I have good credit and many credit cards and have just been victim to one of these fees. The fee was attached to my card because the card wasn't used frequently. I canceled the card.

I carry cards with low balances in order to have a way to pay for something in an emergency. Specifically, I like to have a card in case my car breaks down and needs a major repair. There are other reasons for having a low balance, too! Piece of mind about sums it up.

The fee I had to pay for inactivity on a card is just ridiculous! Credit card companies should be rewarding card holders who have good credit not penalizing them. It is not costing a credit card company anything to allow a customer to have a zero balance. In the case of this card company, it cost them a customer who may have used the card for a purchase of a thousand dollars or more at some time in the future. They are losing a valuable asset.

Banks are jumping on the high fee game, too! It seems like it is time to go back to basics and just save your cash to have in times of emergencies.
