Dept Collection Help Challenges In My Business

by Mike Yarvis
(Attleboro, MA, USA)

I am an owner operator of a small landscaping company who has had a lot difficulty with debt collecting. Apparently people feel its better to try and short change my guys, or not be around when they schedule and appointment.

Many of our customers left my boys out cutting grass trying to collect payment like newspaper boys. It was ridiculous! This was a huge problem for my business, as we got behind on our payments for our shops rent. We even got behind on the payments for the new truck.

One thing especially to note when running your business is getting behind on anything kills your name's value. Your name is everything and you have to work hard to protect it. As management you must also know Everything is your fault.

If not directly it is indirectly. So take action and work to fix it. I have found my business did much better charging upfront even taking in entire months worth of pay at a single time which made our job much simpler, just cut the grass.
