Great Debt Collection Technique: Just the Facts!

The key to collections is information. Good information that is supplied by the person you might be looking for one day. If at all possible a company would be better off if the employee filed out the information questionnaire with the intended debtor.

When filling out or verifying the information only ask open-ended questions, such as, "What is your address?", rather than asking, "Is your address correct?" I know what you are saying. Who has time to ask all these questions? But trust me you might wish later that you had.

In addition you will want to get copies of drivers' licenses (if your work applies), name, address, phone numbers of at least 3 other people or business that have contact with the customer.

It also means you can recover your money sooner...and for less money, as many collection agencies charge a premium for customers they have to track down for good addresses, phone numbers, etc.
