Is Debt Collection Harassment Better Than Being Nice At All Times?

by Jemmer Pablo
(San Jose, CA, USA)

My friend works for a collection agency and I ask her from time to time how is she able to do this job, especially now during such difficult times. In the past she would always comment about how it was very difficult to contact debtors and when she got the chance to talk to any of them, it usually ended up in a bitter conversation.

I asked her what was the conversation all about and she said, that of course she had to put the pressure on the debtor, or simply give him or her the routine about pressing charges, or going to court, etc.

I told her that yes, I'd gotten those calls in the past whenever I wasn’t able to pay one of my credit cards. I also told her that when I have felt harassed by a debt collector it never encouraged me to pay back what I owed.

After I told her this, she came to me a few months later and thanked me for that conversation, since now she is getting more communication with debtors when she is nicer to them rather than giving them the routine on collections.

bank debt
by: c. vanderkop

My girlfriend is consistently being harassed by the bank for debts owing. Unfortunately she is not in a financial position to pay them back and she attempts to explain this to them.

They treat her like some idiot child and talk to her like a child, followed by stupid reprimands of threats.
So, here is the solution. It is bankruptcy time and enough of this childish illegal behavior. They asked her if there was another phone number that she could be reached at.

Now if this is not a ludicrous question! What, so that they can harass her on two numbers instead of one? Whats with calling her at work? I thought we had a law against those things. Give me one more opportunity and I will name the bank. Hope you idiots from the bank read this. Have a nice day.
